A Change of Perspective

This past Saturday I finished a two hour training, the last of my "to do's" from what was both a harried and busy week. In just under 30 minutes I had transitioned from business professional to woman of leisure, as I went from my two piece pants suit to sweat pants and sneakers. I ventured to my favorite grocer, Whole Foods, bypassed all the wholesome, organic delicacies and headed straight for the bakery --------- aaah, there they were; chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal, then finally, the cookie of choice --chocolate chip with pecans.

Armed with my tote bag, cookie, writing pad, water jug, magazine, and book, I headed just about a mile north and felt right at home as I strolled around Piedmont Park looking for just the right location to plant myself. Then suddenly, I spotted a swing that was calling my name.
I settled in peacefully with my cookie, fresh water, and my book and instantly the stress from the week melted away. As I read, I could feel the sun on my neck, the breeze of Spring's first day, the laughter of children, the footsteps of runners, and the panting of dogs in the background.

Suddenly, I was in a different place with a different perspective. The book I was reading, "Attitude is Everything by Keith Harrell" confirmed what the modification in scenery and the change of venue had already suggested --- if you change your perspective you can change your outlook, thus giving any situation a different spin. In this instance I modified the environment as well. I was then able to look at the week as not just moving from activity to activity in a constant state of business (busy-ness), but as my completion of a series of productive assignments and engagements that ended in pleasant results.

You'd be amazed at what a little fresh air, a good book, a cookie, and a change of perspective can do for you!

I hope that your perspective for your business, your vision, and your mission is one that is positive and progressive --- change your outlook, then change your strategy if necessary. The picture you build in your mind will ultimately manifest into the results you want --- so keep it positive and upbeat.
